Il Concorso Lirico Internazionale Mattia Battistini nasce nel 1979 per volontà dell'attrice Franca Valeri e del direttore d'orchestra Maurizio Rinaldi, affidando la realizzazione delle opere liriche all'impresa di Raffaele Guerra. Sin dalla prima edizione, svoltasi nel 1980, tale concorso è stato fucina di grandi talenti, formando e immettendo nel panorama lirico internazionale generazioni di artisti lirici, molti dei quali oggi calcano le scene dei più importanti teatri nel mondo.

 

Le finalità, come detto, sono guidare fino al debutto i nuovi talenti ed immettere nel panorama lirico nuove importanti voci. 

Da sempre la sede storica del Concorso è il prestigioso Teatro Flavio Vespasiano di Rieti.

 

L'edizione 2024 si terrà dal 24 al 26 maggio 2024 presso il Teatro Flavio Vespasiano e i vincitori si esibiranno in un Gran Gala finale:  numerosi premi in debutti, concerti e borse di studio saranno assegnati da una giuria di levatura internazionale.

 

Durante la serata finale saranno presenti importanti esponenti del mondo lirico internazionale ai quali verrà assegnato un premio alla carriera in ricordo di Mattia Battistini.

The Mattia Battistini International Opera Competition was born in 1979 by the will of the actress Franca Valeri and the conductor Maurizio Rinaldi, entrusting the realization of the operas to the company of Raffaele Guerra. Since the first edition, held in 1980, this competition has been a breeding ground for great talents, training and introducing generations of opera artists into the international opera scene, many of whom today tread the stage of the most important theaters in the world.

 

The aims, as mentioned, are to guide new talents to their debut and introduce new important voices to the opera scene.

The historic venue of the Competition has always been the prestigious Flavio Vespasiano Theater in Rieti.

 

The 2023 edition will be held from 24 to 26 May 2024 at the Flavio Vespasiano Theater and the winners will perform a final Gran Gala: numerous prizes in debuts, concerts and scholarships will be awarded by a jury of stature international.

 

During the final evening there will be important exponents of the international opera world who will be awarded a lifetime achievement award in memory of Mattia Battistini.
